Description

An 8-week painting course delivered in a small, inclusive class with a maximum of 8 students. Whether a practising artist, or absolute beginner, this is a course suited to all adult learners at any stage of life. 4 sessions will be dedicated to developing skills in media-handling technique. Students will explore different methods of sketching up their initial drawings; handling acrylic paint using scumbling, dry-brushing, wet-on-wet, and pallet knife techniques; and using paint retarders and other mediums to alter the properties of the paint. Advanced students might prefer bringing their own references (objects or photographs) while others may prefer to choose from Laura's carefully selected range of references. The remaining 4 sessions are dedicated to producing a finished painting on canvas, drawing upon experience gained in the initial 8 hours of learning. Most students will opt to provide their own photographs or objects for this so as to produce something personal and unique to them. But most importantly, copious amounts of tea, coffee and biscuits are offered throughout evenings. Students can make use of the beautiful café area to chat to fellow students about their artwork, or simply take a breather before getting back to their easel.
